THE BASICS
China. A country with a rich and dynamic history spanning centuries. Dynasties have risen and fallen. A Cultural Revolution marked the end of the dynastic cycle. Then, in 2008, China was put onto the world's stage and hosted the Olympic Games. From then on, China marched towards a more civilized future. Traditions and values have changed, but business practices have remained the same.
In Chinese culture, the family is very important. Respect for ancestors, parents, and people in positions of authority are a central part of society, as they carry over into business etiquette.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR: DEVYN M. NANCE
Hello. As a Communication student, I am curious about companies interact with consumers from a variety of backgrounds. As an African-American woman, I wonder how companies can stay relevant while addressing the cultural differences of different groups. Loyola University of Chicago has allowed me to further explore the world of communication through a two week immersion exploring advertising in China. This information on this website is what I have taken away from this experience.
